I've got some original art available and one of the last pieces I did for IDW's run of GI Joe.

This is a painting I did based on Hector Garrido's original Joe card art. Best compliment I received for this was they thought it was an original piece of vintage Hasbro insert art.

Mission accomplished!

The original is right around 24x34 using mixed media. Pencil, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, prismacolor, posca and ink. With a matte clear acrylic finish.

My "love letter" to Hector Garrido and his art. 

Those incredible paintings of his inspired me as a child. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd get to work on GI Joe later in life. One of the things I wanted to do at least once was honor him and his incredible body of work. That's why I created this cover using some of his cardback designs. 

Recreating his paintings in a new setting and updating some of colors, I tried to take all of you back to those wonderful summers in the early 80's. Getting your Joes at the local store and playing out the battle against Cobra in your backyard. 

I sincerely hope you enjoy this little slice of GI Joe nostalgia as much as I did painting it. 

Look for it as a cover to an upcoming issue of GI Joe from IDW. 

As for the original art. I used mixed media. Gouache, acrylic, ink, prismacolor, posca and gesso on 30x22 140lb watercolor board.

Cover To Cover: Vol 1 GI Joe

Recent heeft Jay Sullivan een 60 pagina's tellend boek uitgegeven met daarin zijn kunstwerken die op de covers van de IDW comics mochten pronken. Op de achterkant is het werk om zijn jeugdheld Hector Garrido te eren te zien. Met 2 verschillende kaften om te kiezen, niet eerder gepubliceerd materiaal, line art, verhalen van de artiest zelf en een voorwoord van niemand minder dan Buzz Dixon. 

De versie met de spectaculaire Hydrofoil, Cobra Moray, daarvan zijn er 250 gedrukt en kosten 39,- Dollar per stuk. De alternatieve kaft met de zwart wit schets in inkt, daarvan zijn er slechts 25 gedrukt, en nog maar 3 over, en kosten 49,- Dollar per stuk.

I have both the regular printing and a very, VERY limited number of the sketch Variant Cover. 

The sketchbook is 60 pages. Prestige format, square bound cover. Printed on 120lb silk board for the cover and 100lb gloss stock for the interior pages. 

And the incredible Buzz Dixon provided a wonderful foreword for me. It covers my work at IDW with some anecdotes, never before seen line art and unused covers.

The regular cover is $39 plus shipping (limited to only 50 copies)
